The “Dressed” collection designed by Marcel Wanders and dedicated to breakfast time is also enriched with a few natural beech wood elements to complete the perfect mise en place. The series goes by the name of “Dressed in wood” and includes a breakfast board, serving board, two trays, cheese board, stand, lid with knob and a centrepiece. Thanks to their versatility they can form part of and complete the table set at different times of day.
The relief decoration, a recurring theme throughout the “Dressed” collection, is obtained using lasers and then finished by hand. The knots and veins of the wood make each piece slightly different from the next. The breakfast board is the ideal complement for all types of breakfast; the large serving board is also perfect for serving aperitifs or antipasti. The cheese board and stand can be used with a lid in clear thermoplastic resin with a wooden knob. The series includes two rectangular trays with rounded corners and a round centrepiece, ideal for holding any type of food, completes the set.
When producing the “Dressed in wood” collection the company decided to keep the manufacturing process local, putting its trust in the skills of the craftsmen of the nearby Valle Strona, where the production and processing of this material dates back to the 1500s. Alberto Alessi: “Many recall the adventures of “TWERGI”, the brand with which Alessi launched its exploration of the artisanal wood processing tradition of Valle Strona on Lago d’Orta in 1989. At the beginning of the 21st century all wood production was incorporated in to the Alessi catalogue, and we have rarely been able to present new projects in this wonderful material. We are therefore very happy to have been able to develop a series of containers, with the help of Marcel and an expert craftsman from the valley, in which the processing of the “Dressed” pattern produces a particularly noteworthy result”.
The dialogue between Alessi and this age-old craft tradition has resumed with a wide-ranging project aimed at the home but also the hotel supplies segment, in which the company has played a key role since the 1950s.
